Why I Don’t Believe in “Fake It Until You Make It” Anymore

Let’s be real – “fake it until you make it” sounds cool. It’s catchy. You hear it everywhere. But the more I’ve lived, the more I realize it’s not the path I want to walk. Not anymore.
Because here’s the thing:
If you’re so sure of yourself, then what exactly is it that you need to fake?
I’ve been in situations where I didn’t have the full knowledge, didn’t have all the answers – but I still walked in with confidence. Not because I had everything figured out, but because I trust my ability to figure it out.
And that’s the difference. That’s where the real power lies, in inner security.
It’s not about pretending. It’s about owning your process – transparently.
This “fake it” mindset? It’s built on surface. You’re busy performing instead of growing. You’re trying to look the part instead of becoming it. And worst of all – it doesn’t leave space for one of the most important parts of success: failure.
Because if you’re faking it, you’re constantly avoiding getting caught.
You can’t say “I don’t know.”
You can’t risk getting it wrong.
You can’t mess up.
But growth doesn’t work like that. Mastery doesn’t either.
You have to be allowed to fail.
You have to be able to say, “I haven’t done this before, but I trust myself to handle it.”
You have to be real enough to make mistakes and humble enough to learn from them.
When I stopped trying to be perfect and started showing up honestly – that’s when I actually started learning. That’s when I felt my energy shift from performance to presence. That’s when I got more done, deeper, better, and with less pressure.
So no – I don’t “fake it until I make it.”
I own it while I create it.
I show up – unsure sometimes – but solid in who I am.
Because success without failure isn’t real, and power without presence isn’t sustainable.
If you're building something, build it from the inside.
That’s the foundation that actually lasts ;)
A reminder to myself first and foremost
